How Helen Barrow’s Lipreading class experienced Auri™ from Ampetronic | Listen Technologies for the very first time

We've been proud to support Helen Barrow’s lipreading class in Newark for just over two years now, providing assistive listening solutions to help participants get the most out of their group sessions and activities. This tight knit, welcoming community has always been open to trying new things, and this time, they experienced something completely new: Auracast™.

This was the first time any of the participants had ever heard of Auracast™, let alone tried it. We joined the group for a recent session to introduce them to Auri™, the new Auracast™ Broadcast solution powered by Ampetronic | Listen Technologies, and to demonstrate how it works in real time.

What happened next was nothing short of incredible.

Hearing every word

Each member of the group used an Auri™ RX1 receiver with a neck loop, connecting to the session using the T-coil setting on their hearing aids. Auri™ was used to deliver the full session and the feedback we received was overwhelming.

Participants described the audio as “the clearest they’d ever heard”. For some, it was the first time they had been able to follow an entire session comfortably without straining to hear or missing key parts of the conversation.

One participant, Joan (88), was so impressed she asked if she could take the Auri™ kit home with her. She beamed, “It’s brilliant how clear I could hear what was being said.”

Supporting inclusive communication

This session wasn’t just about testing new tech. It was about giving people confidence and clarity in environments that often make listening a challenge. For many of the class members, the Auri™ system offered a new sense of ease and engagement.

We're excited about what this means for wider accessibility in community spaces, and we’ll continue working with Helen and the group to support their learning in the most inclusive way possible.

Whether it’s helping someone follow a class more clearly or simply hearing a joke without needing it repeated, moments like these are why we do what we do.
